This speech is a great model of how to wrap a story around a principle you want to share. The story covertly builds credibility for him and his transition to the lesson of the story is seamless!
One tip on convert hypnosis.
When your listener is in a peak emotional state, you can slip in any commands and it’ll slide into the subconscious mind.
Public speaking is a general thing but there are some specific practices in each country to become effective. The culture and behavior of people need to be considered when you speak. Public speaking in Singapore is not really different compared to the general practices. However, there are some public speaking tips and public speaking techniques to be considered especially when you want to speak to a Singaporean audience. Compared to other countries in Asia, Singapore has a very intent and focused listeners.
To better deliver a speech, it is better to be equipped with the skills by attending a public speaking workshop. A common group that helps to hone this skill is the Toastmaster’s Club. If you fear public speaking, it is best to go through a series of trainings and workshops.
Public speaking in Singapore does not have many requirements. Your confidence in speaking and coherence in everything you say are very important.
Eye contact and gestures are very effective to make your listeners wait for every word that you have to say. Your speech should have substantial content that your audience will look forward to. At the end of your speech, they should feel that they learned something new or you have made them change some of their perspectives by demonstrating your persuasive skills.

Although I never got to shake his hand personally, I did see him “live” in a congress before.
I didn’t realise how much he impacted my life until I heard of his passing.
Well, since i never got a chance to say thank you to him, I wanna show my gratitude in this blog.
It was 2004 that my eyes were “opened” for the first time. If you know what I mean.
No more bumming around. No more thinking and playing small.
I went to a 3000 people congress for the first time to listen to this man, Jim Rohn, speak about personal development!
Here was this old man, who had literally 3 strands of hair left at the side of his head, speaking with a voice with all the gusto and charisma of a 30 yr old Fortune 50 CEO.
He used this HUMONGOUS white board to “write” all his notes to us. I say “write”… because if you saw it, you would have thought it was scary cult inscriptions… It was super messy!
But every word and diagram on it was a gem!
Jim Rohn is the MASTER of sound bites.
The way he used his mentor to borrow credibility and enhance humility in his teachings is legendary. Listen to his seminar above to know what I am talking about.
Anyway, back to the board.
We went forĀ a lunch break, all 3000 of us….
and when we came back for part 2 of the seminar, Rohn stood at his whiteboard. Stunned.
Everything was gone. Gone. You’ve never seen a whiter board.
This consumate gentleman simply said:
Hey…. where did eve… oh well, lemme just start again….
And I shit you not…
He reproduced every stroke of the “inscriptions” on the board in mere seconds!
At the exact same spots of the HUMONGOUS board!
Those were not random messy notes! Those were his notes! Oh yea… And did I mention the board was humongous?
This man was a MASTER of soundbites.
If you are a student of speaking and influence, you needa own somathese.
If you come to mine, you would DEFINITELY be able to complete this sentence:
“Repetition is the _____________”
Not an accident.
Jim Rohn taught me the value of that.
I borrowed the phrase from Johnny Wimbery, another top moolah earning speaker.
It was Rohn that taught me:
“Profits are better than wages.”
‘Work harder on yourself than you do on your job.”
“Things don’t cost too much… you just can’t afford it.’
“Isn’t it true that people in your same organization is paid 10, 50, 100 times more than you? It’s not what the company pays…. it’s what the company pays YOU.”
It was then I knew the meaning of Personal development.
Wait till you listen to his definition of success. Its in the video above.
Tell me you are not inspired by his simplicity and truth.
I love listening to his CDs when I am baby sitting Luther.
I just get kicked in the ass with a size 15 Caterpillar boot. I need that. I do procrastinate. But you already know that don’t you.
RIP Mr Rohn. Your legacy lives on. My son will teach his son what you’ve taught me.

“I know who I am, I know what I believe, that’s all I need to know.” Will Smith
I first learnt that Will is an inspiration to all speakers out there when I watched The Pursuit of Happyness.
Guys… I’ve actually learnt the hard way. I learnt that the more technical training I get, the more I have to focus on getting it “right”.
That just screws me up. But the day I discover what I am willing to stand up for and against, the day I learnt from within my subconscious mind the person I want to become, the way I spoke totally changed.
People and circumstances were just attracted to me.
That is my passion. To share with Singapore, Asia and the world about High Trust Speaking.
About speaking with authenticity and trust. Enough of that phoney speaking style that wins you trophies and contests but no followers.
I want to follow a leader that dares speak from what he or she believes in and will die for it. Figuratively speaking of course…
