I’ve got a confession to make…

I joined the Toastmasters Club for the dream of one day
earning money from speaking.

The problem is…

Most people can speak like a pro, have sharp witted humour,
but is absolutely clueless about how to turn all that skill
into money.

In this article, I will share with you the simplest method
for turning your speaking skills into money and earn money
from your passion.

Step 1: Pick a topic

This step is the most important step in the system I am
about to reveal to you.

You probably can speak about anything under the sun with
your speaking skills, but you need an audience to be
interested in it!

You must find a topic to speak about that solves a problem
your audience is facing, and willing to pay money for it!

Hey, don’t get intimidated by that last statement.

One of the best selling information products online is “How to Get
Your Ex Back”

People will pay money to solve a problem if it means enough
to them.

I’ve been able to charge money to teach public speaking to
Toastmasters who are ALREADY paying a membership to learn it
weekly!

You just need to think about these 2 factors when you are
picking your topic.

1. Does the topic solve a problem your target audience
face?

2. Is your topic financially valuable? (How to sell, how to
pick stocks, how to write a powerful resume etc)

Step 2: Find Your Market

You can’t earn money from speaking if you have no one to
speak to.

Conversely, you won’t earn money from speaking if no one in
that audience is interesting in learning what you have to
share!

Imagine teaching cat juggling to a group of people with
fur allergy! Or Knitting 101 to a group of male
bodybuilders… you get the drift yeah?

Be really clear about what your topic is (which is easy if
you are passionate about it), then brainstorm the potential
markets who will be interested.

Think deep and wide too.

There may be markets that at first thought may not seem
related to your topic but are.

Eg: Public speaking and street magicians (Magic is more
presentation than technique)

Step 3: Design your talk

There are a few formats you can use but the intended outcome
is the same.

You want them to follow you from free talk on to a paid talk / workshop /
training / coaching etc…

Here is the simplest format I can share with you right now
that you can test out without much guidance from me.

============================================================
Disclaimer:

It is the simplest to implement but also is the least
effective. Law of sowing and reaping here… ;)
============================================================

Design a talk with this order of content:

1. Why your topic is important / useful

2. What are they going to learn

3. How to do it

4. Invite them to learn more from you

This can be the basis of a 30 min to 2 hour presentation

Key is to make it fun and build the value in their mind that
what you share really would make a difference to the results
they currently get.

Step 4: Give Them a Way to Register

You can either print out some forms they can fill in, or
just have a receipt book with carbonized paper to track your
signups.

This is just the admininstrative side of things…

But this is by far the most satisfying part of the session.

Nothing is more satisfying than teaching what you love,
helping people get better results, and earning money from
it!

————————————————————

Ultimately, it is definitely possible to earn money from
speaking even if you think you are not great at speaking
yet!

In my article, I never mentioned about wowing your audience
with your speaking skills.

If you have a passion, an expertise or experience that can
help better the results people are having currently, you can
earn money from sharing it. And feel good doing that.

I’ve met speakers with broken english earning millions when
they speak, and also introverts who consistently have
participants going to them to beg them to accept them as
clients.

They simply had something to share that people wanted, and
knew how to package it to encourage signups.

Hey, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, so why not
right? Besides, it is free to get started with!
